546 school boys fall victim to pedophiles

A total of 546 boys from six schools in Logar province in Afghanistan have reportedly fallen victim to a pedophile ring there.

The Guardian, in a special report, said this was discovered after videos of the abuse were circulated and posted on a Facebook page.

Most of these kids usually experience the abuse in school allegedly perpetrated by their own teachers.

But some of the victims of the abuse, instead of being helped, were instead allegedly killed by their very own families.

Two boys, aged 13 and 15, were killed last week after their faces were seen on videos posted on social media.

The Logar Youth, Social and Civil Institution, uncovered the extent of the abuse after they found 100 videos posted on the social media site.

Charu Hogg, executive director of the All Survivors Project, an organization that works with male victims of sexual violence in Afghanistan, said these cases have been underreported.

Logar province, home to less than half a million people, consider this as a dishonor to the family if it happened to them. So instead of speaking up, others would just keep it to themselves.

Mohammed Mussa, a lead social worker at the institution said those who have the capacity to flee, relocated to other provinces.

The institution is investigating other high schools in the region. They believed that thousands more children may have been abused.
