A 23-year-old man attacked with a corrosive chemical in China, leaving 51 children and 3 teachers injured.
Chinese state media Xinhua news that the suspect named Khong climbed to a school in Yunnan province last Monday and sprayed caustic soda to a room filled with students.
Two kids were seriously hurt, but their conditions were not life-threatening.
Xinhua news reported that, according to the police, the man sprayed chemical to the kids as a form of protest to the society. He was detained for an hour.
The chemical used for the attack is an ingredient in making soap, paper, and dyes.
Eye irritation, allergic reactions and temporary hair loss are some of the effects once exposed to caustic chemicals.
In a CNN report, this is not the first school attack in China. A woman with a knife slashed 14 school children in 2018.
A man killed 14 children in another kindergarten school earlier that year. A knife attack also took place in 2017.
