Immigration arrests Canadian-American rape suspect at NAIA

The Bureau of Immigration arrested a Canadian-American wantedfor raping a 17 year-old girl in Subic last year.

The man allegedly fled the country to escape the accusations but he was arrested when he came back to the Philippines, Saturday night.

BI port operations division chief Grifton Medina said that the suspect was identified as 54-year-old Fouad Bounab.

He was onboard an Air Asia flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which arrived Saturday night at NAIA Terminal 3.

Bounab was accompanied by two Philippine National Police personnel after he was nabbed by Malaysian authorities. The Immigration Bureau said that he was brought to Camp Crame after the incident.

The man is also on the wanted list of the Interpol and has a red notice issued against him.

“He fled to Malaysia to evade prosecution for his crime. Fortunately, our counterparts in Malaysia were able to trace his whereabouts and he was arrested and brought back to Manila,” the BI said in a statement.

The rape incident took place last year. He reportedly lured his minor victim to have sex with him through social media.

A warrant of arrest was also issued to the suspect this July. He was also charged for cyber crime law and anti-trafficking act in Caloocan.
