Two Baguio students return wallet with Php50K cash

Two students from Baguio City National High School got an early Christmas gift from a business man who lost his wallet which has Ph50,000 in it that the two found and turned over to authorities.

The money, said the businessman, was to be used as capital.

ABS-CBN News reported that Jake Vargas and Ziprene Anne Buteng went out of their school to buy snacks when they saw a pouch in a trash can in Burnham Park.

They were surprised to see that the wallet was filled with cash.

“Lalabas po sana kami para bumili ng miryenda namin tapos pagkabasura ko may nakita kaming pouch tapos parang busog na busog po kasi ‘yung pouch pinulot tapos binuksan niya,” Vargas said.

They immediately turned it over to Tourist Police Unit and the authorities promptly posted an announcement about the lost wallet.

The owner was able to retrieve his wallet.

The businessman then gave an early Christmas gift to the honest students. The local government of Baguio plans to hold an activity to honor the two students. (TN)
