Mitsubishi debuts new vehicle concepts at the Tokyo Motor Show 2019

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has announced new additions to its collection, the small-sized electrified SUV concept car, the Mi-Tech Concept, and the Super Height K-Wagon Concept Kei car at Tokyo Motor Show 2019.

“We are dedicated to electrification technology, particularly plug-in hybrids (PHEVs),” MMC chief executive officer Takao Kato said.

He adds, “We will be expanding our lineup of electrified vehicles by delivering more variations and leveraging the diverse electrification technology in the alliance to make MMC the leader in the PHEV category going forward.”
Kato, alongside MMC chief operating officer Ashwani Gupta, unveiled the vehicles at the press conference and discussed the company’s electrification strategy.

Mi Tech 2

The company is looking to integrate its electrification technologies to new midsize and compact SUV by 2022.

The Mi-Tech Concept car is a lightweight and compact electrified SUV, with new PHEV drivetrain, a four-motor electric 4WD system, and advanced driver assist and preventive safety technologies. It also has dynamic buggy type design.

Mitsubishi has announced that the second wave of the next-generation Kei cars will have Super Height K-Wagon Concept, expected to be released by the end of this fiscal year. The vehicle will be more suited for long drives with wide-open passenger space.

The company also showcased the Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer during the Tokyo Motor Show.
