Raids conducted by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority to ensure school buses are complying with its regulations have shown that 538 buses were violating those rules and most of them serve schools which have repeatedly been rebuked.
RTA said its inspectors carried out raids against 917 buses serving 50 schools to ensure there are no violations during the new school year.
Schools which persistently abuse those regulations have been targeted by the inspectors, the Authority said.
“We have found that 538 buses are not abiding by the rules…the violations relate to the bus itself and the driver as well,” it said.
In a statement, RTA said those buses have been served with a notice, adding that inspections would continue through the school year to ensure buses and their driver adhere to RTA standards and regulations to guarantee the safety of students.
