Filipina waitress accuses expat of rape after partying

The Dubai Court of First Instance is hearing a case filed by a Filipina against an expat for allegedly raping her in a hotel room.

Court records showed that the alleged rape incident took place last March after both of them went out to party.

The Bur Dubai Police station responded to the woman’s complaint.

The defendant is a 30 year-old Egyptian who is working as a clerk in Dubai. The Filipina waitress said he took advantage of her when they were both drunk.

The Egyptian man denied the woman’s accusations.

The 32-year-old Filipina complainant said she became friends with the suspect when they met at Dubai Safari Park.

“We would talk on WhatsApp. He called me on the incident day around 11pm wanting to see me. He picked me up from work at 1am,” the Filipina said in a report on the Khaleej Times.

The Filipina recalled that they went out for dinner together with her colleague and the defendant’s friend. They went to a club in Al Jaddaf and finished at around 6am.

The defendant said he was worried that he might get caught for drunk-driving so they decided to book a room at the hotel.

The complainant said the man forced himself on her while she was under the influence of alcohol. Her Filipina friend also gave a similar statement.

A police official said the defendant admitted he had sex with the woman but insisted that it was consensual.

Forensic report showed that the woman indeed suffered from a sexual assault.

Trial is set to continue on November 24. (TN)
