Tropical cyclone Kyarr may have weakened to a category 1 storm but its strong winds still left damage in some areas in the UAE’s east coast.
One establishment which reportedly incurred heavy losses is the Miramar Al Aqah Beach Resort in Fujairah.
A Khaleej Times report said strong waves crashed into the resort’s beach side restaurant on Wednesday, smashed glass windows and swept away sunbeds and umbrellas.
The beach, according to Ashraf Helmi, general manager of the resort, remained closed on Wednesday.
The hotel’s beach side restaurant’s chairs, tables, wooden partitions were either broken or swept away.
