Duterte orders agencies to expedite aid to residents of quake-affected areas in Mindanao

President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered all government agencies to fast track assistance to affected residents of quake-affected areas in Mindanao.

A 6.5 magnitude struck the town of Tulunan, Cotabato province the third time within two weeks, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The earthquake was located at 28 kilometers north east of Tulunan with a depth of six kilometers.

According to Phivolcs, Intensity VII was felt in Tulunan, Cotabato; Kidapawan City; Sta. Cruz, Matanao, Bansalan and Magsaysay, Davao del Sur, while Intensity VI on Tampakan, South Cotabato.

Intensity V was felt in General Santos City; Tupi, South Cotabato; Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, and Intensity IV in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.

Aftershocks are expected following the earthquake.

Meanwhile, Senator Bong Go has assured the public that President Rodrigo Duterte, who was in Davao when the earthquake happened.

“Malapit ang Ecoland sa bahay ni Pang. Duterte, 1 kilometer away lang ito kaya pinuntahan namin agad si Pang. Duterte,” Go told DZRH in a radio interview.
