Shortly after Malacañang announced that it is offering a cabinet post to Vice President Leni Robredo, President Rodrigo Duterte has explained his decision in a media briefing, Thursday night.
“I would have to first make her a cabinet member. Then I will give her the marching orders and the specific functions. All in connection with drugs, kanya,” Duterte told reporters.
The President said that there is no need to put his offer in writing, and he will immediately administer Robredo’s oath if she will take the offer.
“Alam mo ang cabinet members are alter ego lang ng President yan so kung may gawain ang cabinet member it is as if it is mine,” Duterte added.
The President even clarifies that what he is offering to Robredo goes beyond six months.
“Bakit ko bigyan si Leni ng 6 months? Bigay ko lahat ng remaining term, remaining days of my term, kung gusto nya,” Duterte said.
The Chief Executive adds that it will boost Robredo’s popularity if she would take the offer to become the drug czar.
“Tignan natin, hindi na ko makialam. Sabihin mo sa kanya tanggapin nya, sisikat sya dyan. Hindi ko nakayanan, baka kaya nya,” he said.
