The Dubai Court of First Instance has sentenced to life a 36-year-old expat found guilty of raping his girlfriend.
The jobless man reportedly raped his girlfriend while he was drunk last July.
The woman reported the incident at the Al Rashidiya Police Station.
The court has ordered the suspect’s deportation after serving 25 years in prison.
Court records showed that the victim met the defendant in a shopping mall.
“He proposed to me and I agreed. We had been on and off because of his drinking habits until he contacted me again on WhatsApp. Around 1.30am on July 28, he picked me up from my place. I thought he would take me for dinner at a restaurant. But he took me instead to his flat in Al Warsan where I found he had made dinner,” the records showed in a report on the Khaleej Times.
The woman told investigators that she tried resisting his sexual acts but the man was so drunk and too strong to let her go.
She also said claimed that she was raped and was slapped on the face a number of times.
Forensic reports showed that she had bruises and had been subjected to sexual assault.
The suspect has been given 15 days to appeal the verdict. He also admitted that he had sex with the victim. (TN)
