The remains of Mary Jean Balag-ey Alberto, who died in Abu Dhabi last October 2, arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Aiport (NAIA), Wednesday morning, October 30.
The Facebook page, Justice for Jean Alberto, that shared photos of her arrival said her son Rojan refused to leave her wooden casket.
This, along with other heartbreaking photos of Alberto’s family at the cargo area of the airport.
The Department of Foreign Affairs vowed to assist the family of Alberto.
Alberto’s family said they remain unconvinced that she jumped from the 13th floor of her employer’s residence in Abu Dhabi.
Before her death, the Filipina had been complaining of maltreatment from her employer and even requested for a rescue.
Flordeliza Balag-ey, the blind and ailing mother of Mary Jean, has lamented the tragedy that befell her daughter. The family continues to demand justice for Alberto.
Her remains will be brought to a funeral home to Antipolo.
Earlier this month, the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi assured the family that it will “extend all assistance to get clarity and justice” for the victim, adding that it is closely monitoring the ongoing investigation on the matter.
Vice Consul Von Ryan Pangwi, head of the embassy’s Assistance to Nationals (ATN) section, told The Filipino Times in an interview earlier this month that the Philippine mission has been assisting the victim’s next of kin in “navigating the legal system here in Abu Dhabi.”
The deceased arrived in the UAE three months back through the help of her sister, Marie, who stays in Abu Dhabi. Her daughter is also in Abu Dhabi.
Friends and relatives said Alberto had been telling them she was allegedly being mistreated. On her first day off last Sept. 27, they said Alberto appeared to be happy.
