Duterte will not stop riding motorbikes despite accident

President Rodrigo Duterte revealed that he has returned to riding motorcycles even if he had suffered “unbearable pain” from an accident few weeks ago.

In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News, Duterte was quoted saying, “death is relative” and he believes that it can come anytime and to anybody.

The Chief Executive also rejected calls for him to stop his motorcycle hobby. Duterte said riding bikes is his form of therapy.

“The rule sa motor is pag-sumemplang ka, kailangan sumasakay ka ulit kasi kapag hindi, abutan ka ng kabag then you are done. Takot ka na,” Duterte told ABS-CBN News’ Ted Failon.

Duterte maintained that he will keep his hobby as he gets old.

“I am old and I want to just…magmo-motor talaga ako, maganda yun,” he said.

Duterte also set the record straight on what happened about his October 17 accident. He said he lost balance while he was on his dirt bike while circling the Malacañang compound.

“I was trying to maintain the balance bumigay yung sapatos ko. Nung natanggal yung sapatos ko, diretso na so bagsak,” Duterte explained.

The President clarified that the “muscle spasm” he felt while he was in Japan that forced him to cut short his trip was a result of a previous accident. (TN)
