Filipino travelers to Paris warned against pickpockets, snatchers, robbers

The Philippine Embassy in France has issued an advisory for all Filipinos traveling to the country to exercise caution and vigilance when visiting key tourist destinations.

The embassy said no place is completely safe from people who try to take advantage of others, and tourists have a tendency to lower their guard while sightseeing.

Filipino travelers should therefore be aware of petty crime incidents that normally spike during peak tourist seasons.

The embassy warned about crimes of break-ins, robberies, snatching and pickpocketing.

The DFA also reminded Filipinos whose passports got lost or stolen to immediately secure a Police Report and contact the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate for assistance.

The embassy or consulate can help Filipinos who lose their passports by issuing a travel document that will allow travel back to the Philippines.

Here are some reminders from DFA on how Filipinos can avoid thieves:

1. Be wary of pickpockets, snatchers
2. Make sure that your briefcases, valuable are secured
3. Be wary of people asking you to sign a petition
4. Do not carry a lot of cash
5. Keep your bags out of sight when inside vehicles
6. Be alert and vigilant
