LTO to conduct random drug tests on PUV drivers ahead of Undas 2019

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has activated its Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas with a random drug testing of public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and conductors before they leave the terminals.

According to LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante, bus drivers are asked to first surrender their licenses before undergoing the drug test.

If he tested positive, LTO will immediately confiscate his license to prevent him from driving. The driver will also be subjected to confirmatory test.

Apart from this, LTO will also keep an eye on abusive taxi drivers and other PUV operators with .enforcers to be deployed for Oplan Isnabero.

As early as Monday, there were already intensified motor vehicle roadworthiness inspections and bus terminal inspections. These will determine if vehicles are fit to run during Undas season.

Nagkataon ding long weekend.
