SWS: Fewer Filipinos consider themselves poor

The latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey revealed that fewer Filipinos consider themselves poor.

This means that around 10.3 million Filipino families or 42 percent rated themselves poor in a September 27-30 survey.

This is lower compared to a June survey that records 11.10 million families or 45 percent.

Self-rated poverty decreased in all parts of the country except in the Visayas which experienced a 4 percent increase.

Metro Manila and Urban Luzon experienced a decrease in self-rated poverty of 6 points.

Respondents said that they need Php10,000 monthly budget to consider themselves not poor.

Meanwhile, the survey also showed that 7.1 million Filipino families consider themselves food poor.
