Private hospitals threaten not to renew PhilHeath accreditation due to unpaid bills

The Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines (PHAP) has sent an open letter to the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. or PhilHealth over unpaid claims and bills.

“We are… alarmed that most hospitals still have to receive their reimbursements which…remain unpaid,” the organization said.

The private hospitals group also demanded an explanation why some of its members, especially those in Mindanao, continue to receive messages from PhilHealth telling them that their accreditation has been revoked.

“The Association could not understand why the respondent hospitals are not given the opportunity to be heard in a formal hearing,” the group said.

The Association also lamented PhilHealth’s response to the hospitals’ appeal for denied claims.

“Many of our members are signifying their intention not to renew their PhilHealth accreditation as an accredited health provider under PhilHealth program as soon as their current accreditation program expire,” the group said.

The PHAP also slammed PhilHealth’s move to include some contested provisions of the Universal Healthcare program in its implementing rules and regulations or (IRR). (TN)
