Korean on Interpol red notice arrested in Manila

The Immigration Bureau revealed that a Korean teacher wanted for fraud or swindling his two colleagues in Seoul, South Korea was arrested in Manila.

He was also given a red notice by the Interpol.

The BI said that the Korean national, identified as 49-year-old Kim Sang Wook, was arrested by authorities in Malate, Manila last October 15.

The operations were conducted by the Immigration’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU). This was in response on the request of the South Korean Embassy in the Philippines.

In a statement, the Immigration bureau said that Kim allegedly swindled 100 million won by promising his victims’ sons of employment as teachers.

He flew to Manila in 2015 using a tourist visa.

The FSU chief, intelligence officer Bobby Raquepo, said that an arrest warrant was issued on Kim by a Korean court.
