Woman delivers baby in car with husband’s help

An Emirati woman gave birth to a baby girl with the help of her husband who received instructions from Dubai’s ambulance services.

Salim Al Falasi rushed his wife to hospital after she went into labour at home, although doctors had told them delivery is expected after two weeks.

Falasi said he had to stop his car in a shopping mall car park after his wife felt severe pain and was about to deliver.

“I phoned police who asked me to call the ambulance services… they gave me instructions on how to deal with such a situation and within a minute or two my wife gave birth to a baby girl… a minute later an ambulance arrived and transferred my wife to the hospital,” Falasi told Emarat Al Youm daily.

“It was the most difficult situation I have ever faced… but I managed to deal with it and I decided to name my daughter Salama (safety) because God willing, she was born safely and her mother was safe as well.”
