The Department of Health in Abu Dhabi has issued a warning against several coffee products.
These are the new weight-loss coffee-based products which can be bought and seen on social media platforms.
The department announced in a circular that Lishou Slimming 3-in-1 Instant Coffee contained prohibited substances which could trigger or increase risks of heart attack and stroke.
The slimming coffee also falls on the 444 counterfeit products as detected by authorities.
UAE reminds residents that the product is illegal and has not been allowed in the market.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention is closely working with other international entities such as the US Food and Drug Administration to monitor counterfeit weight loss products.
