Shabu, sim card found stuffed inside bulalo at NBP

Five sachets of shabu and a sim card were found in a stewed beef shank, or bulalo, after it was confiscated from a male visitor of the New Bilibid Prison’s (NBP) maximum security compound in Muntinlupa City on Monday morning. The drugs were discovered stashed inside the bone itself, along with the marrow, officials said.

Corrections spokesperson Maj. Alberto Tapiru identified the visitor as Glenn Dayrit, a driver from Angeles, Pampanga.

Dayrit was supposed to bring the bulalo, a popular Pinoy delicacy, to a prisoner in Building 14 of the compound identified as Ron Dela Cruz, who was doing time on drug charges, said a report from Abante, a tabloid newspaper.

Dayrit denied knowledge of the drugs and sim card in the food, explaining that he was just asked to deliver it.

It was however, the fourth time that Dayrit brought food at NBP, officials said.

It was also learned that Dela Cruz, the prisoner that Dayrit was supposed to visit, is a member of the “Bilibid 19,” a group of drug lords serving jail term at NBP.

Dayrit is facing a charge of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
