Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Directorate has reported that 4,311 vehicles were caught swerving or changing lanes in the past eight months of 2019.
These vehicles allegedly were caught changing lanes without any indicators or signs from the beginning of this year.
Transport officials warn that lane swerving often leads to road crashes. Abu Dhabi alone has recorded 235 crashes with one person dying from it.
The fine for lane swerving or changing lanes is Dh400.00.
“The sudden change of lane especially when approaching traffic lights is a bad road behaviour, which compromises the safety of the driver and puts his life and the lives of other motorists at risk,” a police officer told Khaleej Times.
The Abu Dhabi Police also shared a video on how residents and drivers can change lanes the right way.
