SC issues anti-climactic ‘no-decision’ anew on initial recount results in VP protest

The Supreme Court sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) has refused to vote anew on the electoral protest filed by former senator Bongbong Marcos against Vice President Leni Robredo.

The PET has ordered the court to release the committee report prepared by Justice Benjamin Caguioa on the result of the poll recount and requested their respective camps after 20 days.

Marcos filed his electoral protest last June 2016 after losing in the 2016 national elections by over 200 thousand votes.

Justice Caguia has finished his report on Marcos’ three contested areas in Iloilo, Camarines Sur and Negros Oriental.

Robredo’s camp claims that Robredo even gained 15,000 votes from the recount.
