The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has announced that they will be releasing a new coin worth Php20 into circulation in 2020.
The new Php20 coin that will replace its banknote will be launched ceremonially in December but will be available by next year.
BSP states that the new coin will retain the major elements of its banknote version, but will have a “distinguishable” design compared to the rest of denominations to have identifiable features, as per ABS-CBN report.
The current P20 has an orange color and with an image of President Manuel L. Quezon and Malacanang Palace on one side and the Banaue Rice Terraces.
In addition, the P5 coin will also be redesigned by the BSP.
