The first Emirati astronaut Hazzaa AlMansoori has received a grand homecoming in UAE after his successful mission in the International Space Station.
AlMansoori however will have other important duties to carry out in the coming months.
This would include traveling around UAE to share his knowledge to young people.
Salem Al Marri, head of the UAE Astronaut Programme at the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), told Khaleej Times that the two astronauts will be part of the counyry’s astronaut corps.
They will also remain in active status for any future space mission.
“First of all, he’s gained a lot of experience on the International Space Station (ISS) and is the only Arab to have gone there. He’s the only one who can give a unique insider viewpoint towards problems he encountered there and how to mitigate them for our astronauts in the future,” he added.
Hazzaa’s tasks will also include outreach, education and visited other countries who supported his mission.
