The Dubai government is eyeing around 18 government entities to go paperless with their transactions.

As part of the Smart Dubai strategy, the country is targeting to achieve 44 government entities that will be converted to paperless transactions this coming 2021 by starting to reduce the use of papers on their transactions.

“We started with six entities in 2018 and set a target to reduce paper by 50 percent. We achieved 57 percent by December 2018. Now, we have already passed the 70 percent mark to go paperless and have reduced paper consumption by 75 million sheets, either through digitisation, management policies, or integration of the system,” Wesam Lootah, CEO of Smart Dubai said as per a report from Khaleej Times.

He furthered that they are targeting to convert nine entities by November and the next batch will be on the first quarter next year.

Lootah likewise urged private companies to reduce using paper and opt for paperless systems moving forward.
