Customs reminds OFWs to send balikbayan boxes through legit forwarding companies

As -BER months have already started, the Bureau of Customs has advised Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) to send their balikbayan boxes through legimate forwarding agencies only.

It is expected that OFW send balikbayan boxes to their families in the Philippines especially that holiday season is approaching.

Customs assistant commissioner Atty. Vincent Philippi Maronilla said OFWs should make sure that they will send their boxes to those reputable companies with customer service hotline, so that they can call right away if there’s a problem with the boxes.

The customs also reminded the OFWs to put only adequate number of items inside their balikbayan box such as chocolates, sopas, gadgets that are not for commercial use, as per yahoo news.

The BOC will install x-ray scanners in all the container ports in the cournter to determine the what is inside the boxes.
