Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has announced a ban on the sale of secondhand or used mobile phones in the city.
“Pagbenta ng secondhand cellphone ipinagbabawal na ni Manila City Mayor @IskoMorenosa kapitolyo ng bansa #AlertoManileno,” the announcement by the Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) said.
Moreno is also set to order the closure of a mall on Recto Avenue if proven to be the center for vendors of stolen gadgets.
The threat was made after a student reported to MPD Special Mayor’s Reaction Team that he saw his mobile phone from one of the vendors inside the mall.
Moreno has yet to issue a complete set of guidelines on the ban and the penalties to be imposed.
