Pasay fire officials say arson caused Star City fire

Pasay City fire authorities today revealed that the amusement park Star City was deliberately put on fire.

Fire Marshal Paul Pili told reporters that all pieces of evidence gathered in the burned park lead to arson.

The official said initial investigation showed that there was gasoline in an area where it should not be.

The fire that engulfed the amusement park last Wednesday originated in a stockroom for stuffed toy prizes.

Fire officials declared the blaze under control at around 4AM.

Pili said that a certain Mr. Wong, along with some personnel, went inside the Star City complex with sacks of cotton on the day the fire happened.

The fire official said there is a possibility that Star City officials may have helped in setting the park on fire.

The Star City management slammed the report given to the media by fire officials.

“We are not aware of any motive, including financial gain, that would induce the commission on arson specially on the part of Star City as the business is profitable and a bumper Christmas Season was expected,” Star City management said.

The amusement park officials also saidit is inappropriate to release any findings since the investigation isn’t over yet.

“We feel that it was inappropriate, to say the least, to release statements to media first regarding arson as the cause of fire when the investigation is not clearly concluded and before taking up such matter with Star City’s Management, the principal party concerned,” the management added.
