President Rodrigo Duterte has revealed that the government is searching for a Filipino woman who was sold to head towards Africa to become a slave.
In a speech in Russia, Duterte said that the government is still tracking the Filipina.
“A Filipina, hanggang ngayon, hindi na namin ma-trace. Pinagbili na ‘yun sa Africa as slaves. Napakasakit,” Duterte said.
The President did not reveal more details on the slavery incident.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly warned Overseas Filipino Workers against illegal recruiters and human traffickers.
