A man, who sued his wife of 12 years after finding out that she has been cheating on him with her workmate, and was awarded by court with $750,000.
“She had originally told me that she wanted a divorce because I work too much, wasn’t around to be there,” Kevin Howard told U.S. media, Howard hired a private detective who investigated his wife and found out that she was having an affair.
“He came to my house and ate dinner with us. We shared stories, we talked about personal lives,” the man said.
Howard sued his wife using the “alienation of affection” law dating back to the 1800s.
The law considers wives as properties of their husbands. The controversial law is still being implemented in Hawaii, Mississippi, New Mexico, South Dakota and Utah.
“I filed the case because I feel that it’s very important that people understand that the sanctity of marriage is important, especially in this day and age when people question everyone’s morals, people questions everyone’s liability,” he added.
