Hazzaa Al Mansoori all smiles in his first look after safely arriving back to Earth

A smiling Hazzaa Al Mansoori was seen in footages after they were successfully extracted from the Soyuz descent module following a safe and successful landing in Kazakhstan this afternoon.

The Emirati’s first astronaut was smiling as seen from the live footage from the National Aeronautics Space Agency (NASA) on the landing area.

According to Houston Mission Control, the Soyuz descent module made a “perfect entry back to Earth” and achieved the milestones of the journey “without any issues”.

The module landed on its side that it was described as an “almost bullseye on its touchdown”.

Al Mansoori together with two astronauts Nick Hague and Aleksey Ovchinin were immediately given medical attention inside a medical tent set up near the landing site.

Al Mansoori was seen being carried by Salem Al Marri, Head of the UAE Astronaut Program at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC), and Saeed Karmostaji, Manager of the astronauts’ office at the MBRSC.

He was wrapped with the UAE flag on the way to the medical tent.

After their medical tests, they will take off their launch and entry suits and change to a comfortable flight clothing.

The three astronauts will be on board separate helicopters on the way to the staging city of Karaganda in Kazakhstan. This will be a two-hour flight.

After that, they will part ways as Hague will take a flight back to Houston while Al Mansoori and Ovchinin will still go to Moscow in Russia.

Al Mansoori will stay there for 7-10 days for health checks prior to his return to the UAE for a grand homecoming.

Al Mansoori’s eight-day space mission “ushers a whole new era for Arab space exploration” in the UAE.
