At least eight people were killed and six others were injured in an accident involving a minibus and a heavy lorry on Monday morning.
According to tweets by Dubai Police, the accident happened on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road – Sharjah Bound, before Mirdif City Centre Exit.
The passenger minibus with 14 passengers on board rammed into the lorry, which was stationary on the road shoulder at 4:54 a.m.
Those who died in the scene include the bus driver and seven passengers.
The six passengers who sustained injuries were all taken to Rashid Hospital.
According to the authorities, the crash victims are all Asian nationals.
Col. Faisal Al Qasim, the director of Security Media, said investigations are being carried out to determine the exact cause of the accident.
He likewise urged all motorists to practice extreme caution, respect speed limits, avoid distractions and to use indicators when changing lanes.
