The Philippine Coast Guard has confirmed that seven people died while 14 others survived after their dragon boat capsizes in Boracay.
The Boracay Dragon Force team has been training for an international competition at Sitio Lingganay, Barangay Manoc-Manoc, Boracay when the incident took place at around 7:40AM on Wednesday morning.
Team members from the Philippine Coast Guard immediately conducted search and rescue operations.They rescued 14 persons from the capsized dragon boat and recovered seven casualties.
“Investigation revealed that the said dragon boat team was having their practice when sudden strong waves hit them which caused them to capsize,” the PCG said in a statement.
All 14 rescued victims were brought to Saint Gabriel Hospital for medical attention.
