Three ‘dugo-dugo’ gang members targeting OFWs collared

Three suspected members of ‘dugo-dugo’ gang targeting overseas Filipino workers were netted in an entrapment operation by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) National Capital Region.

A tip from a wife of a Filipino seafarer led to the fall of the suspects, reported ABS CBN News.

She told the authorities that a friend sent a Facebook message to his husband asking to borrow P30,000 cash.

According to the message, he would use the money for the hospitalization of his child.

She discovered, however, that the person sending messages to her husband was a poser. She learned this after speaking with their friend who told her that his Facebook account was hacked, denying that he would like borrow money from them.

The entrapment operation was rolled out by the operatives on Saturday. The boodle money amounting to P30,000 was seized from the suspects.

According to CIDG, the gang targets OFWs and seamen as it is not easy for them to verify information.

The suspects were charge for syndicated estafa.
