Manila Mayor Isko Moreno immediately inspected the area after a Sogo hotel branch under demolition in Malate, Manila collapsed on Monday, injuring several people.
Moreno immediately talked to Sogo officials and monitored the scene.
An emergency team has already been deployed to rescue people from the collapsed building.
“Our focus here is saving lives,” Moreno said according to the Manila Public Information Office.
Some 22 people are working in the construction site of the said Hotel Sogo branch and rescuers are still finding two more individuals on site.
The building was up for demolition since August 2.
