A 17-year-old boy from another Gulf country was stabbed at a Dubai shopping mall by a compatriot following a rift over a girl.
The victim was with a friend in a busy mall when he was approached by three young men and asked to come with them.
When they were out of the mall, a 19-year-old boy pulled a knife out of his pock and stabbed him in his stomach.
Newspapers said the stabbed boy ran away while bleeding and that the defendant chased him but was stopped by passers-by before he escaped.
Police arrested the assailant after checking security cameras in the mall while the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
