Abu Dhabi Police have assured drivers that new sophisticated cameras deployed on the emirate’s roads recently are only for testing.
A police spokesman told the official daily Emarat Al Youm that the cameras are of various types and that they are being tested for “performance and efficiency,”
“These cameras are not in official operation now… we are just testing them to determine which cameras will be installed and on which roads,” he said.
He said the new cameras are capable of hunting multiple road violations, including speeding and jumping the red lights.
Some of them also monitor trucks using roads during banned hours and vehicles that do not leave enough space between each other, he added.
