PMA cadet died due to hazing

The Philippine National Police confirmed that the Philippine Military Academy cadet who died inside his barracks on Wednesday was a victim of hazing.

PNP officials said the 20 year-old Darwin Dormitorio complained of stomach pain and was brought to the hospital for immediate help.

The cadet died immediately after he was brought to the hospital.

Based on the medico legal report, complication from internal bleeding killed the cadet. The lower abdomen had signs of trauma which may be caused by a hit from a blunt object, punched at or kicked.

Cordillera regional police has in “restrictive custody” three cadets — two second-year cadet, and one fourth-year cadet — as “persons of interest.” Twenty other witnesses were also being questioned to the alleged hazing incident.

The Philippine Military Academy has yet to address the findings of the PNP.
