Chinese tourist closes two scuba divers’ oxygen tanks as a ‘joke’

A Chinese tourist attempted to prank two scuba divers by switching off their oxygen tanks in a diving trip in Puerto Galera, Mindoro.

The incident happened in two different days according to South China Morning Post.

The first diver experienced difficulty breathing when he was 15 meters below the water surface.

“I didn’t notice anything at the time when the tank valve was actually closed. But when I couldn’t breathe, I knew immediately that someone must have closed it,” the first diver said.

The Chinese tourist was identified as Tighe Lau from Shanghai, China.

He was seen meddling with the first diver’s oxygen tanks.

Lau moved to another diving group where the same incident took place.

Lau’s second victim realized that the tank’s valve was closed when he suddenly had a hard time breathing while he was 10 meters deep in the waters.

The Chinese tourist had already apologized after the incidents, but some of his prank victims are mulling legal actions against him.

Reports also said that Lau has no scuba diving license.
