Three-month jail for driving without license in UAE

People caught driving cars without a licence could be jailed for up to three months and fined Dh5,000, according to the UAE’s top prosecutor.

Persons caught driving cars without a license for that specific vehicle could also be fined Dh400 and have 12 black points added to their traffic record, the Federal Prosecution said on its website.

“We warn people who drive cars without a driving licence… this is a serious offense and involves jail term of up to three months and a Dh5,000 fine,” it said.

The statement said driving without a license is one of the main causes of serious road accidents in the UAE, referring to the June mishap in which to the deaths of three children and their maid on an Abu Dhabi road.
