President Donald Trump confirms death of Osama bin Laden’s son

White House has confirmed the death of Osama bin Laden’s son following a United States (US) counterterrorism operation in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region.

According to the statement from President Donald Trump released on Sept. 14, 2019, Hamza bin Laden, also the high-ranking al-Qa’ida member, was killed.

“The loss of Hamza bin Ladin not only deprives al-Qa’ida of important leadership skills and the symbolic connection to his father but undermines important operational activities of the group,” Trump said.

Hamza bin Ladin was identified as the one responsible for “planning and dealing with various terrorist groups.”

It can be remembered that his father was the mastermind of the 9/11 attack on US soil.

There were earlier reports from US media of the younger bin Laden’s death but it was only now that President Trump confirmed it.

In March, the State Department put out a $1 million bounty for information leading to his capture.

He was one of the 23 children that Osama bin Laden had with five women.
