Pinoy seaman, 26, dies after falling from cruise ship in Italy

A 26-year-old Filipino seaman dies after falling from a cruise ship while cleaning windows on September 5 in Livorno, Italy.

He was identified as Marvin Galero who worked as a seafarer at Vision of the Seas cruise ship.

Witnesses said that Galero fell from the highest deck of the cruise ship while cleaning its windows.

Rescue divers tried searching for Haleron. He was found after two hours, 13 meters deep under the sea.

Authorities are now investigating the incident. They will also look into possible violations of the ship since its mandatory for workers to have harness while working outboard operations.

Galero’s family was surprised with what happened to him.

His body is now under autopsy. Authorities are also investigating four individuals including the ship’s captain for possible ‘manslaughter’.
