Plastic products will no longer be allowed in Ajman after the Ajman Tourism Development Department decided to ban it.
This effort is to keep pace also with the government’s efforts to raise community awareness, and reduce the impact of plastics on the environment, as per a report from Khaleej Times.
Under the Ajman Vision 2021, one its key pillar is the sustainability of the tourism sector, says Saleh Al Jazzeri, Director-General of the Department.
In line with this, their department wants to encourage correct environmental practices in partnership with the public and private sector.
They are set to launch the Ajman Sustainable Tourism Award, “Mudama”.
This will encourage their partners to rationalize their water and energy consumption and adopt environmentally friendly practices.
