A 39-year-old Filipina was sexually assaulted by a Pakistani man while swimming in a beach in Dubai.

In a report by The National, the woman said she was with a group of friends when the incident happened last August 2 at Jumeirah Beach.

The complainant said the suspect had been pestering her and her group.

The woman then took a dip and was surprised when the suspect appeared underwater and touched her private parts.

The woman pushed the man away and screamed for help.

The suspect tried to escape but was cornered by other beachgoers. He was later turned over to responding police.

He claimed that he just accidentally touched the complainant when he dove into the water.

The man was charged with sexual assault at Dubai Criminal Court.

The court is expected to issue its verdicts on September 18.
