President Rodrigo Duterte has revealed his admiration on the works of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
“Bilib ako sa kanya,” Duterte said on Tuesday with members of the media.
Duterte even said that Moreno, who was actively exerting efforts to clean up the capital, is better than him.
“Kaya, nanonood ako kung nagsasalita siya, mas mahusay siya kaysa sa akin, sa totoo lang. May nakita ako na mas mahusay ang resolve niya kaysa sa akin,” Duterte added.
The ‘rockstar’ mayor did not miss the opportunity to thank the good words of the President.
“Thank you for the kind words, Mr. President, but to be really honest, isa po kayo sa mga naging inspirasyon ko sa kung ano mang klase ng liderato na meron kami,” Moreno said in a statement.
The mayor even said that he’s scared to smoke when in Davao City.
“Ako po ay naninigarilyo. Pero kapag nasa Davao City po ako, takot na takot po akong manigarilyo dahil alam ko pong huhulihin ako,” Moreno recalled.
Moreno also thanked Duterte for his leadership that transcends to local government leaders like him.
“As I always say, it is not the severity of the punishment itself, but the certainty of getting caught that deters a person from committing a crime. So we owe it to you Mr. President, for inspiring us and for becoming a good example to all of us,” Moreno ended.
