An Arab vendor is on trial in Dubai on charges of violently assaulting a US woman of Arab origin at her home in the emirate.
The 22-year-old vendor was trying to sell his items to the woman before she asked him to leave following a dispute over price.
An argument ensued, and the vendor jumped on the woman (30) and started to kick and punch her, forcing her to lock herself in the bathroom.
Newspapers said her maid called the police but he fled the apartment, adding that the woman suffered injuries in the arms and other parts of her body.
“He gave her a good beat but later he sent her a text on her mobile phone apologizing to her… the man was arrested and is on trial,” the Arabic language daily Emarat Al Youm said.
