Sale of stolen necklace exposes theft

An African maid who stole a gold necklace from a crippled old man made the mistake of her life when she gave it to her boyfriend to sell it in the market.

Police rushed to the jewelry shop after they were informed that an African man was trying to sell a gold item without any ownership documents.

He told police the necklace was given to him by the maid to sell it for her and agreed to guide the police to her place.

A Dubai court sentenced the maid to three months in prison and ordered her deportation while her friend was rebuked for trying to sell the item on the grounds he did not know it is stolen.

“The maid works for a cleaning and care company and she is sent to various houses to serve their residents….the old man did not know he was robbed until he was told so by the police,” the official daily Emarat Al Youm said.
