Senate President Tito Sotto did not hesitate to call out members of the LGBTQ+ community in their bid to push for the Sexual Orientation Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) equality bill.
“If you are a man, you will never be a woman no matter what you do,” Sotto said.
He added that gay or transgender women could not produce a child.
“Because you cannot reproduce, you cannot give birth, you do not have ovaries. You will never be a woman,” Sotto added.
The Senate committee has deliberated the bill. It may have a chance at passing in the committee level but will have a difficult time in the Senate plenary.
The push for equality was triggered by the mall incident involving a transgender woman who was prevented from using a female restroom.
“Maraming kontra as it is e. The way it’s written now, maraming kontra,” Sotto said.
Lawmakers have expressed support for an anti-discrimination rather than passing the SOGIE bill.
“To me, this SOGIE bill is a bill against women’s rights. It is giving transgender rights so it is a class legislation,” Sotto said.
I agree to Senator SOTTO… God created only 2 person. GIRL and BOY! Beside, people knows and they accept that there is GAY and LESBIAN but to respect them, they must put them self into the right way. GAY must not push what they want to use the cubicle of a real lady. ????????
