For Buhay Party List Rep. Lito Atienza, the janitress who was involved in a confrontation with trans woman Gretchen Diez only used her common sense.
Although the incident cost her job, Atienza vowed to help her find a new one.
“I’d like to offer you a job. I will help you find a job. You used common sense,” Atienza said.
The party list representative also called on fellow lawmakers to reject the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) bills after its proponents supposedly used Diez’ experience to press for its passage.
The 28-year-old Diez has sued the management of the Quezon City mall after she was briefly detained for insisting on using the restroom for women.
Television evangelist and CIBAC party-list Rep. Eddie Villanueva filed a resolution summoning the janitress to legislative inquiries into 13 House SOGIE bills.
Villanueva said the legislators should also get her side of the story.
